This Notting Hill steakhouse officially just re-launched with more modern decor (dark red leather seating, wooden tables, low-lighting centrepieced by a huge concentric-circle chandelier) and a new menu revolving around Allen’s of Mayfair meat. Because they care, the also-new 30-page drinks list features anciently conceived gin numbers such as the circa-1921 “Mayfair” (oj, apricot brandy, soft cloves) and, first introduced in 1922 by the credit-evading Duke of Manchester, the raspberry/Noilly Prat Dry/sweet vermouth/maraschino “Bloodhound” — though reeking so strongly of juniper, you’ll be trackable by far less sophisticated noses.
